COMIX AND ENNESIMO FILM FESTIVAL TOGETHER AGAIN

Fillo Megna, Wallo&Friends and Comix for a youth-friendly week

This year Ennesimo Film Festival devotes ample space to the students of the Academy with two
talks and a partnership with Panini group’s most irreverent brand

To give importance to the younger generations, unifying moments of confrontation and dialogue with our idols and activities directly connected to cinematographic critic. Ennesimo Film Festival proves itself as particularly attentive towards youth dynamics, and in occasion of the ninth edition of the Fiorano-based event, which will take place from 28th April to 5th May, provides two talks completely dedicated to the eight grade middle school students who take part in the Comix Academy, born from the youth partnership with the group Franco Cosimo Panini’s irreverent brand. This is coming true after the end, happened in the previous weeks, of the course held by Ennesimo Academy’s educators in the Emilia Romagna school classes which took part in the project: the participating boys and girls, all from the eight grade, have learned the basics of cinematographic critic and some rules to follow in order to write reviews regarding audiovisual works.

That brings us to the second phase of the project, inserted in the highlight week of Ennesimo Film Festival. The first date is scheduled for Monday 29th April when, from 9am at Teatro Astoria, students from the Academy will meet the content creator Fillo Megna, a tiktoker with over 65 million likes and more than 1.2 million subscribers on his TikTok account. The core of the meeting will be social media language, irony and bullying. The Academy students will be able to deepen the experience with a slightly older peer who has found his own dimension online, being particularly mindful about the use of audiovisual tools and contemporary communication.

Wallo&Friends instead will be the protagonist of the Comix Academy the 2nd of May at Cinema Teatro Board in Scandiano, in a meeting with the students where he will explain how the comics narrative arises and evolves. The comic artist from Rome currently has several publications to his credit and ever since 2019 his comic strips have been a recurrence on the Comix agenda. Ironic style, minimal strokes, Wallo&Friends’ strips make a name for themselves thanks to their subtle humor and a mix of personal experiences and modern cinematographic references. Together with the students of Ennesimo Academy, he will work on the production of a comic strip as a cooperator, letting them be part of an experience that will not just be a mere theoretic exercise.

Comix, one of the most appreciated brands among the younger people, has confirmed, for the third year, the partnership with Ennesimo Film Festival. From the synergy of these two realities – comments the artistic director of the Fiorano Festival, Federico Ferrari – was born Comix Academy, the occasion that allows the girls and boys of the eight grade to get closer to the world of comedy in all its various forms. This year we decided to support the communication of the new century, the online one, to comic books, a set of cartoons that in the last decades have been accompanying each of our childhoods. It’s a blend of two one-of-a-kind eras both beloved by new generations.

Like the previous editions, this year as well the students will assign the Ennesimo Youth Prize to the best short film and the Comix Award to the best comedic short. The award ceremony is
scheduled for the last night of the Festival, Sunday 5th May.
