It’s the fifth edition for the award and its partnership with Ceramiche Caesar.
A talk by Riccardo Falcinelli will kick off the event.
The Caesar Design Film Award returns for its fifth consecutive year in collaboration with Ceramiche Caesar, celebrating short films focused on the world of design and architecture. The award ceremony will take place on May 2 nd at 9:00 PM at the Astoria Theatre in Fiorano Modenese, as part of the ninth edition of the Ennesimo Film Festival. The theme of this year’s Caesar Design Film Award is ‘Design for Looking Beyond’, exploring the concept of design as a visionary force that can address real-world everyday issues. The evening will kick off with a talk by Riccardo Falcinelli, a renowned popularizer, writer, and one of Italy’s most respected and influential visual designers. Falcinelli’s presentation will focus on the power of images, their deconstruction, and their role in our daily lives.
Looking beyond is a daily activity which allows us to overcome obstacles, optimize trajectories, anticipate reactions. Most of all, it is an essential mental attitude for design” explains Federico Ferrari, Artistic Director of Ennesimo Film Festival, talking about this year’s theme. “Thanks to the precious support of Ceramiche Caesar, this bridge between cinema and design is renewed, offering the public new visions and explorations. This is further enhanced by the presence of Riccardo Falcinelli, a prominent guest in this field and beyond.
The partnership with the Faculty of Industrial Design from the University of Bologna has been renewed as well. Following a series of classes during which students explored models and options used in business and artistic contexts to communicate manufacturing or cultural products, the students will visit the Ceramiche Caesar factory on May 2 nd . This will allow them to experience firsthand the material and the places where innovation begins. They will then attend a Design Talk delivered specifically for them by Simona Finessi, director of “Platform Architecture and Design” magazine.
Six films will take part in the contest and compete for the CDFA prize and two special mentions, which will be awarded by three different juries. Adolfo Tancredi – CEO of Ceramiche Caesar – will serve on the CDFA jury together with architect Guglielmo Renzi, academic researcher Elena Vai, screenwriter Giampiero Rigosi and Simona Finessi, director of “Platform Architecture and Design” magazine. The university students will choose the winner of the Wannabe Designers mention, while the audience attending the event at Astoria theatre on May 2 nd will assign their own special mention.
