Out of competition – May 5 at 5 p.m. at BLA

On 12 April 1961, Yuri Gagarin made history by becoming the first human being to reach the Earth’s orbit. This event revolutionized not only science, but also cinema. In fact, cinema has been defined as “the Seventh art” since its very origins, when Georges Méliès presented his iconic short film Journey to the Moon in 1902. The cinematic journey of space-themed films ranges from the conquest of the moon and the universe, to stories of robots and aliens, as well as investigating the themes of the discovery of new planets and the future of humanity.

This short film selection will take you on an exciting journey to the stars, retracing human footsteps, rediscovering popular beliefs, always with an urge of going beyond our limits.
