Based on the true story of the director’s mother, this film revolves around Franka, who came to Fargo (North Dakota) with her family after escaping from Czechoslovakia. When news of the Cambodian genocide hits, she writes a letter to the Lutheran Refugee Service in hopes of welcoming a family in her new “hometown of dreams”.
