HOW TO PROMOTE CRITICAL THINKING

After last year’s huge success, our project dedicated to the students of the III year of lower secondary schools continues, stronger than ever. The pupils will be the protagonists of a special section of Ennesimo Film Festival!

As demonstrated by the success of the project, the activities of Ennesimo Film Festival in the schools of the ceramic district are by now a fixture for the Eighth Graders. At the current edition of the project (the fourth) the number of students and schools involved is even bigger, as we try to involve as many students and local institutions as possible.

EFF’s project on image education reached record-breaking numbers during last year’s edition, when around 1000 students of 9 different schools were involved. We operated in many classes of 5 local districts: Fiorano Modenese (7 classes), Sassuolo (8 classes), Maranello (7 classes), Castellarano (7 classes) and Scandiano (3 classes).

We want to take on new challenges and achieve bigger goals, so our team of educators is ready to embark on this new adventure, but with the same ambitious objectives that have always been our main characteristic: helping the people to analyse critically and express opinions through reviews of films and short films.

During the lessons in class, the tutors will explain the concept of difference of opinion and help developing the students’ ability to critically analyse the images they see.

Around 1000 people (among students and teachers) will be the protagonists of the lessons taking place from October 2019 to April 2020. The last step of the project coincides with the five screenings entirely dedicated to them, when they will watch the selection of short films of the category Ennesimo Youth Award.

As we did for the previous editions, the students will be asked to “adopt” a short and write its review to participate to the Ennesimo Award to the Best Review. The best ones will be awarded during an event specifically planned for the occasion.
