Ennesimo Film Festival has expanded its educational offer by adding to its classes a new course, focused on how to develop communication projects and advertisements aimed at reducing the consumption of single- use plastics in favour of drinking water, in order to raise awareness about the problem of increasing plastic pollution and its impact on the environment. “The Shape of the Water”- this is the name of the pilot project – has been developed in collaboration and with the support of the Municipality of Spilamberto within its Sustainability Project called “Sasso”.
Ennesimo Film Festival and Tilt Associazione Giovanile partnered with the Municipality of Spilamberto and its local administration to launch an ambitious project called “Sasso” (an Italian acronym for “Environmental protection to make the city of Spilamberto sustainable as of today”), fully in line with the UN sustainable development goals for 2030 in the fight against climate change (13 th SDG). The youngest members of the city council (the so-called C.C.R. – Consiglio Comunale dei Ragazzi) embarked on this challenging project and came up with some original ad slogans focused on the climate impact of our daily plastic consumption on the environment.
Throughout the course, Roberta Pè and Davide Bigarelli from the Hera Group and Nicola Bigi – founder of the creative studio TIWI – joined the lessons and gave several lectures focused on what the communications field could practically do to deal with the environmental issue and to address the theme from a “creative” point of view. The students worked in groups and created four ad campaigns on the aforementioned subject with the assistance of a professional graphic designer.
«The courses of the Academy aim to stimulate creativity and to raise awareness among the participants by combining a series of individual exercises with an enriching moment of collective confrontation. Thanks to the “Sasso” project the discussion on this topic crossed the boundaries of the C.C.R. and reached all the citizens, thus leading to the development of a widespread ad campaign which features more than 120 advertising posters and a dedicated TV show, broadcasted on the local channel TRC. We firmly believe that the issue of Environmental Sustainability promoted by “Sasso” should have a prominent role on every Government’s agenda and should not be overshadowed by other contingencies, as all too often is the case. We decided to take advantage of the huge amount of time that the recent pandemic “gave us” and – with the support of the Municipality of Spilamberto and of the Region Emilia Romagna – we started working with the youngest generations, embarking on a challenging adventure that we hope will continue in the future. We analysed the basics of Advertising and its “language”, we encouraged the use of water bottles and we donated many books on this subject to the local libraries and tried to bring the Community closer to this topic also by resorting to Virtual Reality. Our hope is that everyone in the future will become more and more
aware of the effects of plastic consumption on our environment, in favour of drinking water and of a more “circular approach” to the economy.».
